Subscription tracker spreadsheet
Short answer
Download the spreadsheet, open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, and add one row per subscription. Each row works out its monthly cost, the top of the sheet totals each currency per month and per year, and anything you mark Cancel shows up as a yearly saving. Free, no sign-up, no email.

The .xlsx has the formulas, drop-downs and formatting. The .csv is the same columns as plain text, for any app.

What's in the spreadsheet
- Eight columns: Service, Cost, Currency, Cycle, Renewal date, Keep/Cancel, Monthly equivalent and Notes.
- Drop-downs: Currency (GBP, USD, EUR), Cycle (Monthly, Yearly, Weekly, Quarterly) and Keep/Cancel. Cost only takes numbers and Renewal date only takes dates.
- Monthly equivalent fills itself in: weekly is cost × 52 ÷ 12, quarterly is cost ÷ 3, yearly is cost ÷ 12.
- Totals at the top for each currency: per month, per year, and "could save a year", which adds up the rows marked Cancel. Pounds, dollars and euros are never added together.
- Frozen header and filters, so the headings stay put and you can sort by renewal date or cost. Rows marked Cancel turn ember.
- A second tab, How to use, repeats these steps.
Open it in Google Sheets
There is no "make a copy" link: we would have to share a sheet from our own Google account for that. Importing takes the same four clicks and the copy is yours from the start.
- Download the .xlsx above.
- In Google Sheets, open a blank spreadsheet, then choose File > Import.
- Pick Upload, then select subscription-tracker.xlsx.
- Choose Replace spreadsheet and Import data. The formulas and drop-downs come with it. The ember colour for Cancel rows may not.
Excel: open the file. If it opens in Protected View, choose Enable Editing so the drop-downs work. Numbers: open the file from Finder or the Files app.
Fill it in once, from your statements
Start with Settings, your name, Subscriptions on iPhone, then two months of bank and card statements, PayPal and Google Play. How to see all your subscriptions on iPhone walks through each place. Or do the first pass in the free subscription audit: it can read pasted statement text, then Export CSV gives you rows in exactly these columns to paste into the sheet. Going the other way, Import CSV on the audit page reads this sheet saved as CSV.
Where Burn fits
We make Burn. The spreadsheet is free and yours to keep. Burn is the same list on your iPhone, and it reminds you before each renewal and the day before a free trial turns paid, so you don't have to open a file. No account, no bank login. Free for up to 5 subscriptions.
Questions people ask
Is there a free subscription tracker for Google Sheets?
Yes. Download the .xlsx on this page, then in Google Sheets choose File > Import > Upload and pick the file. The formulas and drop-downs import with it.
Does the spreadsheet work in Excel?
Yes. It is a standard .xlsx file. Open it, choose Enable Editing if Excel shows Protected View, and type over the example rows.
How does it handle yearly and weekly subscriptions?
Pick the cycle in the drop-down. The Monthly equivalent column divides a yearly cost by 12 and a quarterly cost by 3, and multiplies a weekly cost by 52 and divides by 12.
Can I track subscriptions in different currencies?
Yes. Pick GBP, USD or EUR on each row. The totals at the top add each currency separately and never convert between them.
Is it free? Do I need to give an email?
It is free. There is no sign-up and no email: the download links are plain files.
